Log Server - NetOp Remote Control for
OS/2
|
A standard security feature for
remote-control software is the ability to
log information such as who controlled a
certain PC on a specific date and time. To
address this need, all PCs running NetOp
Guest and Host modules can log this type of
information locally. However, it is also
possible to store all this information in
one central location using the NetOp Log
Server module.
The Log Server is an ordinary NetOp Host
module designed specifically to receive and
store information about past and present
remote-control sessions over a specific
network. A major advantage of this system is
that it is far easier to gather auditing
information from a single source.
Furthermore, with a NetOp Log Server, the
logged information is far safer and easier
to maintain.
A central logging system also gives you an
overview of all remote-control sessions,
making it easy to see if security policies
are being followed. It is easy to tabulate
the number of support calls made over any
given period and the time taken to solve
user problems, and so on.
What’s more, with the Log Server it is
possible to feed data about remote-control
sessions directly into other systems, such
as the billing system. It is also possible
to have multiple Log Servers on a network so
you can have separate audit trails for
different departments. The NetOp Log Server
is compatible with both Windows and OS/2
operating systems.
