Most remote-control software systems rely on
keeping security settings on each individual
PC. However, it is a time consuming and
difficult task to implement and manage your
security policies in such a decentralised
set-up. The NetOp Access Security Server
allows you to centralise all security settings
and procedures, making it far easier to
monitor and manage remote-control usage. This
grants organizations a higher degree of
security with minimum disruption.
An Access Security Server allows you to
centrally define passwords, user IDs, lists
of authorised users and user rights – i.e.,
exactly what a guest user can and cannot do
on the host’s computer. If a password rule
is violated, the offending Guest module will
be locked automatically and prevented from
having further remote access until an
administrator unlocks it.
All security information is held in
encrypted form in a database, which the
NetOp administrators can maintain via a
special configuration program. For easier
administration, host users can be grouped
and assigned an “Access Profile” which
defines what can and cannot be remote
controlled on that group of host PCs.
By password protecting your Access Security
Server’s database and physically securing it,
your organization is well protected from
unauthorised access. And since the Access
Security Server also contains a complete Host
module, you can access it remotely. This
module is both Windows and OS/2 compatible.
