Overview - NetOp Remote Control for OS/2

NetOp for OS/2 6.5 is the latest version of our remote-control software for OS/2-based PCs. Extremely easy to install and operate, NetOp for OS/2 provides full remote-control functionality across a variety of different communication protocols. For added flexibility, this NetOp product is also compatible with Windows and DOS operating systems. A standard NetOp for OS/2 set-up requires both Guest and Host modules. OS/2-friendly versions of Gateway, Access Security Server and Log Server modules are also available for enhanced functionality.

Modules available

Guest: Allows a PC to remote control any other PC, which is running a NetOp Remote Control Host module.

Host: Allows the PC on which it is running to be remote controlled by any PC running the Guest module.

Gateway: This is a special version of the NetOp Host module, which acts as a routing mechanism for NetOp Remote Control traffic. This module can be used, for example, to act as a single dial-in point, allowing guest users to access networked hosts.

Log Server: This is a special version of the NetOp Host module, which logs all NetOp Remote Control activity centrally. This makes is possible to track specific events, such as who remote controlled a certain PC on a specific day, at a particular time.

Access Security Server: This is a special version of the NetOp Host module, which allows users to centralise security and administration details, including all authentication and access privileges. An Access Security Server can also act as a Log Server.
